MEET KIM

KIMBERLY BEEBY P.T.
Change has been present throughout my life. Growing up as an Army dependent taught me to adapt and appreciate the beauty in all experiences that life brings. This appreciation colored my career as well. My work experience spans all ages from infants to the terminally ill, and all types of recovery setting: acute hospital, sub acute, nursing home, in home care and outpatient clinics.
Since I was in high school, I was drawn to supporting people’s wellness and healing. I volunteered as a trainer for our soccer team and worked as an aide in the local PT clinic. Becoming a Physical Therapist was a natural fit for me, and building my foundation with the highly respected curriculum at Texas Woman's University for Physical Therapy was the perfect way to start my journey. It was during my training at TWU that I first learned of Myofascial Release (MFR), Craniosacral Therapy and Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT) along with other manual treatment techniques. I was so intrigued by MFR, I chose it as my first continuing education course after graduation.
Myofascial Release’s manual treatment techniques have been extremely useful for me throughout my career treating patients as a physical therapist. MFR provides a gentle non-invasive way to provide pain relief and increase range of motion.
After I graduated from Texas Woman's University, my husband and I moved to the Gulf Coast of Florida, which is where I built my career as a Physical Therapist and we enjoyed raising our three daughters. I earned recognition over the years as Orthopedic Specialist, at the Rehabilitation Institute at West Florida Hospital, and after receiving my Neuro-developmental Treatment certification I became the physical therapy Neuro Specialist for cerebrovascular accident (stroke) and traumatic brain injury patients.

Neuro-developmental Treatment, or NDT, is a hands-on treatment approach that facilitates diverse functional movement patterns. Sharing these skills with therapists entering the field and members of the community via an arthritic self-care program was incredibly rewarding. I also derived great joy from being an aquatic therapy provider during that time as well.
Seeing a need for in-home physical therapy in the community, I transitioned to provide home care to a mix of clients from pediatrics to older adults utilizing my broad base of therapeutic techniques. A particularly rewarding experience was participating in an early intervention program for children born prematurely or diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, Torticollis, Spina Bifida, Clubfoot, Downs Syndrome, etc.
My husband's job brought us to Wilmington, Delaware in 2008. Being in Delaware allowed me the fortunate opportunity to train and work at The Sanctuary Myofascial Release Center in Malvern, PA. My full time work at the treatment center was an invaluable gift and I still enjoy filling in when they need extra support. I see my practice at BB Physical Therapy and Wellness as a therapeutic bridge.
BB Physical Therapy and Wellness provides expert level myofascial release to clients allowing them to regain mobility and fully interact in the community at a level they desire.
My practice aims to bridge the gap when a person’s rehab based physical therapy treatment has ended and the issue has become chronic and the individual is still in pain, has decreased strength, mobility, or endurance which has limited their ability to enjoy activities.
This is where BB Physical Therapy and Wellness comes in to utilize deep myofascial release and promote ease and increased freedom of movement without pain. An additional important aspect of that therapeutic bridge is instruction in self-care to maintain a healthy myofascial system. Movement instruction, when applicable, can be implemented as needed for strengthening, improved posture, flexibility, and cardiovascular health. I use Pilates based core strengthening, resistance training, movement training with correct postural alignment, large therapeutic ball training for dynamic strength with balance, and endurance gait training on a treadmill. If a client has access to a pool, aquatic based care can be provided for myofascial release and strength training with home program instruction.
Tailoring a unique treatment program for each individual is incredibly important to me. And this requires listening and observing the individual in front of me to learn what they want to achieve. When first meeting a future client, getting to know where they are coming from and what they want to change lets me know where they are looking to go and how I can help them get there. We navigate the path together in order to meet their goals as a team. I draw from my experience and knowledge in order to be a supportive teammate and provide input, skill and space to enhance their healing in a joyful way.
